The postpartum period is often described as the fourth trimester, and yet the support most new mothers receive ends at the six-week checkup, with a quick "everything looks good" and a clearance to resume normal activity.
For a body that has just grown, carried, and delivered a human being, that is simply not enough.
Whether you had a vaginal birth or a cesarean, whether you feel pretty good or are struggling more than you expected, your body has been through something significant, and it deserves intentional, expert-guided recovery.
At Find Your Way Mama, postpartum physical therapy is not a one-size-fits-all protocol. It is a personalized, whole-person approach to helping you heal completely, rebuild confidently, and return to the life you love capable, energized, and prepared.
We invite you to read our Postpartum Recovery Guide to learn more.
Pelvic floor PT looks different here. And that's intentional.
Nearly 75% of new mothers experience some form of postpartum complication, yet the majority are never told that effective treatment exists.
Postpartum PT is for you if you are dealing with:
Pelvic pain, heaviness, or pressure
Urinary leaking, urgency, or frequency
Bowel dysfunction or incomplete emptying
C-section scar tightness, numbness, or sensitivity
Perineal tearing or episiotomy discomfort
Tailbone pain after vaginal delivery
Prolapse symptoms
Diastasis recti (abdominal separation)
Low back, hip, or SI joint pain
Neck, shoulder, or upper back pain from feeding and carrying
Painful intercourse when returning to intimacy
Desire to safely return to running, lifting, or high-impact exercise
But even more than that, postpartum physical therapy is for the mother who feels okay but not quite right, who knows something is off but hasn't been able to name it.
You don't need a dramatic symptom to deserve care. You just need a body that went through childbirth, which is reason enough.
We welcome women who gave birth last week, last month, or in the last several years. Whenever the journey leads you to us, we’re ready to help you heal and thrive.
In the early postpartum weeks, leaving the house with a newborn can feel impossible. The last thing you should have to sacrifice is your own recovery.
We offer postpartum home visits throughout Essex County, bringing expert pelvic floor PT directly to you, in the comfort of your home, on your schedule, during one of the most demanding seasons of your life.
Early postpartum home visits allow us to assess your healing in real time, address urgent symptoms before they become chronic issues, and support you through the most vulnerable and important weeks of your recovery without the logistical challenge of getting yourself to a clinic.
One of the most overlooked contributors to postpartum pain is the sustained, repetitive posture of new motherhood.
Hours of nursing, bottle feeding, babywearing, rocking, and lifting a growing infant place enormous strain on the neck, shoulders, upper back, and wrists, often creating a cascade of tension that works its way down the spine and into the pelvis.
We assess how you are holding and feeding your baby and provide practical, personalized guidance on positioning, ergonomics, and strengthening so that caring for your newborn doesn't come at the cost of your own body.
Believe us when we say, small adjustments make an enormous difference over thousands of feeding sessions.
Engorgement, blocked ducts, and general breast soreness are common in the early postpartum and breastfeeding period.
Gentle lymphatic massage techniques can support fluid drainage, reduce swelling and discomfort, and promote overall breast health during this time.
We incorporate this into your care as appropriate and teach you self-care techniques to use at home between sessions.
C-section is a serious and invasive surgery whose effects extend far beyond the incision line. Scar tissue that forms after a cesarean can restrict movement in the abdominal wall, affect core and pelvic floor function, cause pulling or numbness, and even contribute to bladder urgency or low back pain years later.
Dr. Arielle will begin scar tissue work as soon as you are cleared (typically around six to eight weeks), using gentle manual techniques to mobilize the scar and surrounding tissue. We also incorporate near-infrared light therapy via a specialized pelvic wrap, which supports wound healing, reduces inflammation, and helps decrease pain in the scar area.
Combining hands-on scar massage with light therapy creates a comprehensive healing environment that supports your body's full recovery, inside and out.
Your pelvic floor and core work as an integrated system, and after birth, that system needs to be rebuilt progressively and intelligently.
We will assess your pelvic floor function directly, develop a rehabilitation plan tailored to your birth experience and symptoms, and guide you through a systematic return to the activities you love, without leaking, pain, or setbacks.
Pregnancy changes the entire relationship between your core and pelvic floor, so it’s critical to focus on their reconnection. Our Core Restore classes are specifically designed to teach you how to properly load, breathe, and move with a pregnant body, building a foundation that protects you now and sets you up for a smoother postpartum recovery.
Building core strength and resilience as the nervous system regulates is a powerful step toward your long-term pelvic health.
Postpartum recovery is not a checkbox. It is a process, one that deserves the same expertise, attention, and individualization as any other significant medical event.
At Find Your Way Mama, Dr. Arielle brings over 15 years of clinical experience, personal postpartum lived experience as a mother of two, and a notable passion for helping women reclaim their strength and confidence after birth.
Every postpartum session is an hour of hands-on, one-on-one care, either in our serene North Andover studio or in your home. We integrate pelvic floor PT, orthopedic care, nutrition principles, nervous system support, and movement coaching into a plan that treats your whole, complex self.
Your recovery is not an afterthought. Neither are you.

Do I need a referral?
No. Massachusetts is a direct access state, which means you do not need a referral or a prescription from your OBG or primary care physician. With that said, I am a member of your healthcare team and, with your permission, will reach out to the other members of your team as needed to help coordinate your care and make additional referrals. Your health and wellness are my top priority.
Can I bring my baby?
Absolutely. Your baby is welcome to share our safe, healthy environment with us as we work to help you heal, strengthen, and become active again.
What if I start my period just before my visit or have symptom flare-ups?
Not a problem! In fact, sometimes that’s even better, as it can provide insight into cycle-related discomfort and symptoms, enabling targeted treatment. Please do NOT cancel your appointment if you’ve started your period. Likewise, if you’re having a flare-up of symptoms, we’d still like to see you. If you have any questions prior to your visit, don’t hesitate to reach out so we can put your mind at ease.
Do you have convenient parking and easy access to your clinic?
We have provided an easy path to our office for the convenience of our patients. Parking is out front, you have first-floor access, and the entry to our clinic is stroller-friendly.
Does pelvic PT hurt?
Pelvic physical therapy and our other services should never hurt. You will likely feel some pressure and perhaps a bit of discomfort, but the pain should stay below 4 out of 10 on the scale. If you feel pain, please speak up, and we will make the correct accommodations for you.
